After we decided to move to Austin, in April 2005 Paul made a 1800-mile trip from Santa Cruz to check out some properties that we had picked out off the Internet. He drove 1100 miles the first day and the speedometer broke at 120 mph in the middle of nowhere, California. The next day the fan belt broke near Davis Mountains in West Texas. Luckily, he had the foresight to bring Porsche-specific tools and a spare fan belt with him. The road-side repair only slowed him down about 10 minutes. He made it to Guero's to meet with friends that evening.
